10/31/2024 01:07 PMMaurice Camille Raes, 98, of Branford, died on Oct. 24, 2024, at Connecticut Hospice. He was the devoted husband of Jacqueline Dierick Raes for 71 years. Maurice was born on July 21, 1926, in Ghent, Belgium, where he earned his degree in chemical engineering. He moved to Canada and then Connecticut, which became his forever home where he raised his family.
Maurice worked for many years as a chemical engineer for the Olin Corporation until his retirement. He was an avid handyman, had a thirst for knowledge, and spoke multiple languages. He also had a passion for travel and loved to see the world.
In addition to Jacqueline, he will be dearly missed by his children: Martine Raes of Branford, Mark Raes of Andover, Karen (Jim) Cosgrove of Branford, and Eric (Jill) Raes of Morristown, NJ; his grandchildren: Derek, Danielle, Ayla, Dylan, Eliana, Courtney, Kaylee, Tristan and Gwen: and great-granddaughter Emery. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Theophiel.
