10/29/2024 09:33 AMOn Oct. 12, 2024, Donald “Don” B. Kimball Jr., of Killingworth, released his last breath after a brief illness as his wife, Sheila Offredi Kimball, held his hand and sang, “Glory awaits you.” Don was born on Aug. 1, 1959, son of the late Donald B. Kimball Sr. and Barbara McManus Kimball.
Besides his wife Sheila, he is survived by his sisters, Pamela Urban and Jessica Kimball; his brother Edward Kimball; his aunt Eleanor (Kim) Sadler; and his cousins, Susan Haynes and Janet Dey; as well as numerous other relatives on the McManus side of the family. Don is also survived by his father-in-law Gene Offredi, his brother-in-law Matthew Offredi and wife Dayna; sister-in-law Cynthia Pennington and husband Andrew; as well as nephews and nieces, Alex Offredi and wife, Nivi, Olivia Offredi, Luke and Emily Pennington; and grand-nephew Austin.
Don was a 1977 graduate of Morgan High School in Clinton, where he excelled in his studies and played first-chair trumpet for the Morgan Band and Jazz Band. He majored in physics at UConn and then redirected his focus on ministry while playing trumpet semi-professionally. In 1993, he was ordained with World Ministry Fellowship. He served as a state director for Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maine, as well as the Central Ordination Counsel and, later, on the executive board. Don and Sheila pastored for eight years preparing them for ministering to ministers. Don was a gifted communicator of the Word of God and a powerful intercessor. In addition to ministry, Don enjoyed doing research and helped to create a patent in ink jet technology. His last job of 33 years with Glanbia, Inc. consisted of research involving nutritional special projects.
In his spare time, Don enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles, working out, and watching music and reaction videos. He was especially fond of Korean singers. The quote, “Still waters run deep,” aptly describes Don. He was a quiet observer, a deep thinker, and a scholar. As a great listener, Don had keen insight and wisdom as he spoke with and prayed for people. At his nephew’s Indian/American wedding, Don stepped out of his comfort zone and led the men in several dances at the Sangeet. He practiced those steps for many hours, and everyone was so amazed at how well he danced that night. If Don was going to do something, he was going to put in 100% effort and do it right.
Don was promoted into heaven to begin his new ministry assignment.
