10/28/2024 01:41 PMMargaret Hargraves Kiernan, of Guilford, formerly of Branford, died on Oct. 22, 2024, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the beloved wife of the late James F. Kiernan.
Margaret was born in New Haven on Nov. 20, 1936, the daughter of the late Frederick and Helen Luza Hargraves. She had worked at Yale Law School, as a florist, and as the office manager for Kiernan Photography for many years. Margaret was a very active parishioner at St. Agustine Church at St. Ambrose Parish in North Branford, where she was a trustee, a member of the Parish Council, and a lector for many years.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Laura (Kurt) Troidle of Branford, Catherine (Joseph) Marganski of Guilford, and Eileen Kiernan (fiancé Mike Nail) of Birmingham, Alabama; her grandchildren, Alex (Megan) Marganski, Anneliese Troidle and Harrison Troidle; her great-grandson James Francis Marganski; her sister Charlene Ruotolo of North Branford; and her brothers, Frederick Hargraves of East Haven and Robert Hargraves of Atlanta, Georgia.
A visitation was held on Oct. 25 at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. Her funeral left the funeral home on Oct. 26 for a Mass of Christian burial in St. Ambrose Parish at St. Augustine Church, North Branford. Burial followed in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford.
