Norma Buonocore DeRosa


Norma Buonocore DeRosa, 90, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Oct. 2, 2024, at MidState Medical Center, Meriden, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 66 years to the late Salvatore DeRosa. Norma was born in New Haven on Jan. 10, 1934, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Josephine Izzo Buonocore. She was the co-owner of DeRosa Photography with her late husband and held Pik-n-Paint nights for the neighborhood from her home for many years.

Norma enjoyed trips to the casino, bowling, playing cards and the piano. She looked forward to happy hour with her friends and family when she would enjoy a nice Southern Comfort. Norma will be remembered for always being ready for a good time, whether it be a big party or just getting together with others. She was a beautiful soul and a happy and supportive mom, not only to her own children but to many others. Most of all, Norma unconditionally loved her entire family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by her son Raymond DeRosa and the Loving mother of Daniel R. DeRosa, Joanne Pentino and her husband Michael, Laura Martin and her husband Matthew. Beloved grandmother of Michael (Liz) DeRosa, Kristina (Ashley) DeRosa-Thompson, Mark DeRosa, Daniel (Adrianne) DeRosa, David (Michelle) DeRosa, Matthew (fiancée Giovanna Labador) DeRosa, Robert DeRosa, John (Dawn) Finn, Jessica (Scott) Shumway and Jennifer (Tyler) Vallario. Sister of Bridget Stowe. Also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.

The visiting hours were on Oct. 8 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford. Interment followed in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
