Vincent McIntyre

Vincent McIntyre died peacefully, surrounded by family, on his 91st birthday, Sept. 23, 2024. He was predeceased by Mary Patricia “Pat,” his wife and life partner of almost 64 years.

Vincent was the loving father and father-in-law of Anne McIntyre-Lahner and her husband Mark; Susan Grinnell and her husband Michael; Paul McIntyre and his wife Sabrina; Catherine McIntyre-Velky and her husband Ken; and Helen Skillin and her husband Mark. He was the proud grandfather of Kate Petrone and her husband Aaron; Liz Lahner and her husband John, and Olivia Lahner; Matthew Grinnell and his girlfriend Kelly; Michael Grinnell and his fiancée Alanna, C.J. Grinnell and his girlfriend Samantha, and Andrew Grinnell; George Velky, Julia Velky, and Claire Velky; Kevin Skillin, Joe Skillin, and Justin Skillin; and great-grandchildren of Julianna and A.J. Petrone.

Born Sept. 23, 1933, and raised in Houghton-le-Spring, England, Vincent earned his Ph.D. in chemical engineering at the University of Manchester. He met and married the love of his life, Pat, in 1959, after which they embarked on their lifelong adventure — leaving their home in England to come to the U.S., where they raised their five children.

Vincent worked for the E.I. DuPont Company for his entire career, which took him and his family to many parts of the country. Always found with a smile on his face, Vincent made friends everywhere he went, including many long-lasting friendships with colleagues and customers. In his spare time, he and Pat enjoyed Newcomers events, bridge parties, and participating in gourmet groups. His hobbies included playing golf, wood carving, and traveling with Pat and friends.
