Philippe Desilio

Philippe Gabriel Hughes Desilio, 61, of Jupiter, Florida, passed on June 20, 2024, in Loule, Portugal. He was born in Beziers, France, on June 2, 1963, to Huguette and Gilbert Desilio, and moved to the United States in 1974.

Philippe attended Old Saybrook High School and went on to study at Northeastern University in Boston. In 1986, he moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and found a second family of friends and coworkers. He spent the next 31 years as a bartender, primarily at AU BAR and Bice in Palm Beach, and spent some summers in his later years at the Summer House in Nantucket. He had a knack for remembering his customers and their preferred drinks. Philippe wanted everyone around him to have fun and loved to throw parties at his home. He was a passionate chef who hated to eat at restaurants. The beach was his peaceful place and he traveled to Europe, Costa Rica, Peru, and even a trip into the Amazon Rainforest.

Phillippe was preceded in death by his daughter Brittany; his parents, Gilbert and Huguette; his niece Morgan Desilio; and his many beloved dogs. He is survived by his siblings, Francois, Claude, Bernard, Pascal Desilio, and Corinne (Thomas) Laird, as well as his niece and his nephews; many beloved friends and brothers and sisters of the heart.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Living Rock Church in Killingworth, with a burial at Riverside Cemetery in Old Saybrook, to follow.
