Donald Ferraiolo
Donald “Babe” Ferraiolo, of East Haven, died peacefully on Sept. 1, 2024, in Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of Georgia Lamb Ferraiolo. He was born in New Haven on Jan. 7, 1939, a son of the late Anthony and Madeline Carotenuto Ferraiolo.
Babe was a butcher by trade. He owned his own store, Ferraiolo’s Fish & Meat, which he operated for several years. Babe loved his family and went out of his way to make family and friends feel comfortable. He took care of everyone and was always the voice of reason. Babe enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, camping, and clamming with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Dorothy (Peter) Pellegrino; sons, Donald (Carrie) Ferraiolo Jr. and Ronald Ferraiolo; a sister, Mary Nebor; and a brother, Anthony “Peachy” Ferraiolo. He was the proud grandfather of Michael Ferraiolo, Peter Pellegrino, Lauren DiLieto Greene, Lindsay DiLieto Capone, Christina Starker, Stephanie Pellegrino, Carly, and Marissa Ferraiolo. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, as well as Mary Ann Cucurello Bailey (Kessler), who was like a daughter to him; his sister-in-law Estelle Ferraiolo; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter Santella “Sandy” DiLieto; sisters Santella DeMauro, Marianne LaBonte, Louise Funk, and Lucy Pagano; and brothers Thomas, Pasquale,, Jacina “Jack,” Salvatore, and Robert Ferraiolo.
