Helen McInerney

Helen Cappiello McInerney, 94, of North Haven, made her final journey home peacefully on Aug. 29, 2024, at MidState Medical Center, Meriden, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 41 years to the late George T. McInerney. Helen was born in New Haven on March 13, 1930, and was the daughter of the late John and Olympia Croce Cappiello.

A graduate of the former Commercial High School and Stone’s Business School, Helen was a switchboard operator for the former Shartenberg’s Department Store in New Haven and was the executive secretary for the president of the former Cott Beverage in New Haven. She also worked for her family’s business, the former Cappies Pizza in New Haven, Northford, and Hamden. Helen later worked at Quinnipiac University for many years until her retirement.

She loved to decorate around her home, especially at Christmas time. She was predeceased by her brother, John Cappiello, and a sister, Laura Verna.
