Dolores Mosca
Dolores Ellen (Welles) Mosca, age 85, a lifelong resident of Old Saybrook, passed away peacefully at Gladeview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Old Saybrook on Aug. 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving children. “Dede” was the beloved wife of the late Edmund Henry Mosca Sr., who predeceased her on March 23, 2024. She was born in New London on Feb. 10, 1939, the daughter of Herbert F. and Clementine T. (Maura) Welles.
Dede was a 1957 graduate of Old Saybrook High School. She and Ed were married on Aug. 9, 1958, in Old Saybrook. She will be forever remembered for being a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was the heart of her family. She enjoyed having her family around her and did so many wonderful things for them. Her Sunday family dinners will never be forgotten. She kept a beautiful home, decorating for all seasons, especially at holiday time. Dede enjoyed sewing and crafting and the life she shared with her family in their Knollwood Beach home. She was a communicant at Saint John Church.
She leaves her children: Debra Pegnataro (Joseph) of Old Lyme, Edmund H. Mosca Jr. (Susan) of Winthrop, Paul Mosca of Cromwell, Patricia Dunn (Jeffrey) of Centerbrook, and Dolores Britt (Mark) of Old Saybrook. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren: Daniel and David Pegnataro, Lauren, James and Emily Mosca, Rayne Mosca, Amanda, Eric and Kevin Dunn, Michael and Stephen Britt, and her seven great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings: Elida W. Phillips, Herbert F., John A. and Roy A. Welles.
The family would like to thank all of Dede’s caregivers for the loving and devoted care given to her both at her home and at Gladeview Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Her funeral Mass was held on Aug. 28 at Saint John Church, 161 Main Street in Old Saybrook. Burial will be privately held by the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Dede’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor #17, Chicago, IL 60601.
