Ann Ghiroli

Ann Ghiroli, 93, a longtime resident of Branford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at Chestelm Health & Rehab in Moodus. She was the loving wife of the late George Ghiroli. Ann was born in Guilford on July 26, 1931, the daughter of the late Lawrence Mainetti and Ines (Begnis) Mainetti.

She was the beloved mother of Ronald Ghiroli of Branford, John (Cheryl) Ghiroli of Killingworth, and the late Deborah Ghiroli. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Aaron Ghiroli of Guilford, Cassandra Ghiroli of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, and Landon Ghiroli of Chelsea, New York City; and her great-grandchild Kennedy Ghiroli of Guilford. She was the sister of Catherine Bolt, Lori Burress, and Domnick Mainetti and sister-in-law of Jacqueline Mainetti. She was predeceased by her brother, John Mainetti, and sister, Angelina Mainetti.

Ann enjoyed celebrating the holidays, Sunday dinners, the annual Mainetti Memorial Day picnic, and playing setback on Friday nights with family. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and attending all their school events. She was an avid UConn basketball fan. But most of all, she liked to laugh and joke around and for that she will be greatly missed.

Friends are invited to calling hours from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford, followed by a Graveside service at 11 a.m. at Saint Agnes Cemetery, 195 East Main Street, Branford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Danny Cosgrove Animal Shelter, 749 E. Main Street, Branford, CT 06405.
