Thomas Luke Sweeney

Thomas Sweeney, 67, of Westbrook, passed away on Aug. 6, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Janet Sweeney; bother Michael (Irene) Sweeney of Long Island; sisters, Kathleen Buehler (Paul) of Pennsylvania, Gerry Elloriago of Long Island; stepson, Ryan Dowden of Westbrook; grandsons, Giovanni, Gabriel, and Michael; also, many nieces and nephews that he was so very proud of. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Cecelia Sweeney, and his brother, Edward Sweeney (Coach Sweeney).

Tom went to Belmont Preparatory School, Long Island, and graduated from Canton High School. He also studied illustration at the Paire School of Art. He worked in the printing business and freelance illustration for many years. He also worked as a skilled bartender at the Westbrook Elks Club Lodge 1784.

Tom was a member of the Westbrook CT Elks Lodge 1784 where he volunteered and contributed his art talents of murals at the Lodge. Tom enjoyed many years of live music at the Elks surrounded by his friends.

Tom will be remembered for his very easy-going personality and good sense of humor. He will be missed by many.

A celebration of life will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sept. 13, 2024, at the Westbrook Elks Club for anyone who wishes to attend.
