Rose Schurk

On Aug. 6, 2024, Rose Anna (Mruk) Schurk, 88, a longtime resident of Guilford, passed away at St. Raphael Hospital, New Haven. She was the wife of the late Donald F. Schurk. Rose Anna was born in New Haven on Jan. 25, 1936, the only child of the late Mr. John Mruk and Mrs. Helen (Kasperzyk) Mruk. She was the loving mother of Cindy Schurk (Nat) of Guilford, Willi Murray of Shelby, North Carolina, Ken Schurk (Jamie) of Meriden, and David Schurk (Eileen) of Madison. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Sarah, Amy, Katherine, Daniel, and Taegan, and one great-grandchild, Zoe.

Mrs. Schurk is a 1954 graduate of Wilbur Cross High School. Before retirement, she had worked at Unique Cleaners and C. R. Gibson in Guilford.

She enjoyed growing orchids and other plants in her greenhouse, traveling, collecting antiques, reading mysteries, solving Sudoku puzzles, and working jigsaw puzzles.

Friends are invited to a funeral service from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 16, at Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. Burial will follow in Alder Brook Cemetery, 375 Boston Street, Guilford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association at www.stroke.org.
