08/08/2024 03:11 PMFrieda (Meyers) Criscio, 81, of East Haven, passed away on Aug. 3, 2024, at home. She was born Aug. 29, 1942, in New Haven to Frank and Laura (Gilbert) Meyers. Frieda is survived by her four children, Anthony Criscio (Donna) of East Haven, Mark Criscio of Killingworth, Deborah Weyel (Stephen) of Branford, and Dawn Gabriel (Chris) of East Haven, along with six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one on the way. Frieda is also survived by her two siblings, Frank Meyers (Gina) of California and Patricia Masella of Hamden, and many nieces/nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony Criscio (2004); and her lifelong friend, Helen Nigro.
Frieda met her husband Anthony at the age of 13 while attending Fair Haven Jr. High School. They were married for 45 years until his passing. Frieda spent her life serving God as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting, and dancing at Amarante's in New Haven.
A special “thank you” to all of Frieda’s family, friends, and neighbors for their compassion, support, and help over the last few years. The Criscio family is greatly appreciative.
Family received friends on Aug. 7 in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Avenue, East Haven. All were invited to meet and attend her graveside service on Aug. 8 in East Lawn Cemetery, 58 River Street, East Haven. Donations may be made to the Ct Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford CT 06405 in memory of Frieda’s late husband, Anthony Criscio.
