Dolores was born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 10, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Armand and Angela (Mazzella) Conte. She was the loving mother of Lynne Siclari Tedesco (Todd), of Marco Island, Florida, and Madison, and Karen Siclari (Kenneth Handelman), of Madison. She is survived by five grandchildren: Kelsey and Ryan Handelman, and Michael, Siena and Marina Tedesco. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Conte (Bonnie Kaplan), and nephew Jonathan Conte of Calgary, Alberta. She also leaves behind her longtime, devoted friend, Jayson Byrd, of Guilford.
Dolores was a 1956 graduate of Denby High School, Detroit. She graduated from the University of New Haven and attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Dolores’ first career, of over 25 years, was in human resources management at Chloride Systems, North Haven. She also worked at Susan Bates Company, Chester, and IPC Communications, Clinton. For the last 30 years, Dolores worked as a scenic and portrait photographer. She was an accomplished head-shot photographer, photographing such notables as Paul Newman, Christopher Plummer, and many others at the American Shakespeare Theatre.
She was an excellent swimmer, and her true love was anything ocean. In the summer, she sailed her boat on Long Island Sound. Wintertime found her sailing in the Caribbean with her brother and sister-in-law. Growing up and beyond, her home was like a fun, summer camp, with trips to the beach, clamming, crabbing, shelling and kayaking.
