Annina Pia Guarnieri
Annina Pia Guarnieri of Branford passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024, at the age of 89. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. Annina was born on May 16, 1935, in Valle d’Aosta, Italy, and emigrated over to America in 1956, with her parents and sister to live the American Dream. She married the love of her life, Anthony Guarnieri, with whom she celebrated an amazing 66 years of marriage together.
Annina is survived by her husband, Anthony Guarnieri of Branford; her two sons, Remo Guarnieri (wife Maureen) of Lakeland, Florida, and Joseph Guarnieri of Waterford; and her grandchildren, Marissa Colley (husband Steven), Enzo Guarnieri and Abigail Guarnieri. She was predeceased by her parents, Alberto and Marziantonia Ciarlo; sister Antonietta Tjardes (husband Hans); and daughter Lucia Colley.
If you knew Annina, then you knew the profound love she shared with her family. She was the whole heart of her family and one of the most cherished people in their lives. Annina had an extraordinary ability to light up any room she entered, bringing smiles and laughter with her sweet, genuine, and wonderfully silly nature. Her warmth made her a joy to be around, and she could always be counted on to make anyone’s day brighter.
Annina was passionate about many things in life. She loved cooking, and her kitchen was always filled with the comforting aroma of meals made with love, especially her famous lasagna. Her sweet tooth, specifically her love for chocolate, was well-known and shared with her family. One of her great joys was visiting the casino and playing the slot machines, which she referred to as her “Disney World.” Her family was the center of her world, and she dedicated herself to them with unwavering love, devotion, and by always having a warm meal ready when they woke up or returned home from school and work. She had a deep love for Italy and immense pride in her heritage, which she passed on to her family with great pride.
Annina leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Rest in peace, Annina; you will always be missed. We love you!
