Pasquale “Lino” Liuzzi

Pasquale “Lino” Liuzzi, 86, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Vincenza DePascale Liuzzi. Born in Alberobello Province of Bari, Italy, on July 16, 1937, to the late Domenico and Rosa Notarnicola Liuzzi.

As a young boy, he learned the secrets of cheesemaking passed down by his family for generations. He arrived in New York in 1962, where he answered a newspaper ad looking for a cheesemaker in Connecticut. He soon began working for C&F Cheese in East Haven, and in 1981, after calling for his younger brother Nicola, they together opened Liuzzi Cheese on State Street in North Haven. For years, a staple of the local community, the company later expanded to a nationwide brand, having received national recognition from professional trade organizations for its mozzarella, burrata, and ricotta.

Lino was a hardworking, self-made man with a generous heart and opened his home to family and friends. He was a father figure, a mentor, and a friend to so many. Lino would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. Truly a selfless man. His family was everything to him, and he loved each of them unconditionally. Lino was devoted to his faith and was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church, New Haven. He loved wine, the accordion, and Winstons.

Father of Domenico Liuzzi (Jennifer), Ralph Liuzzi (Gena) and Roseann Guidone (Mark). Loving and proud Nonno to Francesca, Pasquale, Nadia, Gianpaolo, Gianna, and Marco Liuzzi, and Ava, Tommy, and Markie Guidone. Brother of Franco and Nunzio Liuzzi, and the late Rosa “Sisina” Fusillo, Giovanni and Nicola “Nick” Liuzzi. Brother-in-law of Teresa and Linda Liuzzi and the late Gilda and Rina Liuzzi and Nicola Fusillo. Uncle of Domenico “Mimmo” Liuzzi, who was like another son to Lino and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The visiting hours were on July 14 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends were invited to go directly to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven, on July 15 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and were also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in the All Saints Mausoleum.
