07/11/2024 11:36 AMRobert S. Maratea, Sr., 87, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024, at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 43 years to Gabriella Cappella Maratea. Robert was born in New Haven on June 17, 1937, the son of the late Salvatore S. and Grace Maggio Maratea. Robert served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army. He had worked as a custodian for the City of New Haven for over 30 years and was a member of the Santa Maria Maddalena Society.
Devoted father of Robert S. Maratea, Jr. (Patricia), Michael Maratea (Cheryl), and Kenneth Maratea (Ellen). Loving grandfather of Stephen Maratea, Erin Lindisio, Jessica Santore, Michael, Bryan and Melanie Maratea and the late Nicholas Maratea. Beloved great-grandfather of Christian Lindisio, Luca and Giada Santore, Madison, Mia, and Lina Maratea, and Bryan Maratea, Jr., Brother of Edward (Patricia) Maratea and the late Anthony Maratea. Stepfather of Lea M. Cimmino and Gina L. Hyatt. Step-grandfather of Tanner Cimmino, Giovanni (Tiffany) Marzullo, Allyson, Gabriella and Zachary Hyatt.
The visiting hours will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Noon in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven.
