Carl Hansen

Carl A. Hansen of Branford passed peacefully in his sleep on June 20, 2024, at The Ark at Branford Hills. He was the beloved husband of Paulette Best Hansen. Carl was born on Feb. 19, 1936, a son of the late Alfred and Helen Norton Hansen.

He worked as a truck driver for D. J. King Trucking for many years until retiring. Carl was also a past member of the Branford Elks and National Guard. He enjoyed lobstering and built many lobster pots for Branford locals in his younger years.

Carl and his wife enjoyed their seasonal site at Odetah campground, where family members would gather for summer holidays.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Debbie Sorber (Mason), of Branford; a son, Rich Hansen (Trish), of Branford; a stepdaughter, Fran Villella-Raboin (Darin), of Bristol; and seven grandchildren: Vincent and Robert Villella, Rebecca Tuttle, Crystal and Kaitie Sorber, Richard and Kevin Jette. Carl also leaves behind many great-grandchildren and extended family members. He was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Roberta Kirschner, and his brother Alfred Hansen.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 28, at the East Lawn Cemetery in East Haven. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held at the American Legion in Branford. For online memorial and guestbook, see www.wsclancy.com.
