Warren Erickson

Warren Erickson (Oct. 12, 1939 – June 6, 2024), a beloved husband, father, and grandfather from Guilford, passed away on June 6, 2024.

Warren was nicknamed Buddy as a child by his sister Sandra. Later in life, he was affectionately known as Grandpa Bud.

Warren grew up on the Iron Range in Virginia, Minnesota, and enjoyed outdoor adventures, from racing hydroplanes on small lakes to camping in the Boundary Waters.

He started at the University of Minnesota as an engineering major but eventually realized that wasn’t his path. He had a New Yorker cartoon on his fridge that showed a homeowner in his basement, standing knee-deep in water with a wrench in his hand. The caption read, “Instead, I shall become a plumber of men’s souls.”

Warren obtained a master’s degree at the University of Chicago, studied at the Jung Institute in Boston, and went on to have a successful career as a Jungian analyst. He had a long and fulfilling private practice where he made a positive difference in many lives. He became a key figure at the Jung Institute in Boston and had many speaking engagements abroad.

In 1985, Warren married his second wife, Jane, and they were a special match. He loved to garden, travel abroad, sail, kayak, and ski. Family vacations with the grandchildren were a highlight, and the trips to Cape Cod and Minnesota instilled an appreciation of the natural world in his family. He was thoughtful and contemplative about the natural world and the spiritual realm. He is likely engaging in deep conversations with Carl Jung as part of the collective unconscious, collaborating to benevolently help advance mankind.

Warren is survived by his wife, Jane Erickson of Guilford; his sons, Mark (and wife Kathy), Tom, and Scott; and his loving grandchildren, Sara and Max of Williston, Vermont.

The family will be holding a private celebration of life later this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B Southington, CT 06489, or online at https://act.alz.org/site/Donation2df_id=51079&51079.donation=form1
