Pamela Berube

Pamela “Pam” Ann Hertler Berube, age 69, departed this world on May 1, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born in Middletown on Dec. 19, 1954, to William and Dolores Hertler. Pamela was the second of five siblings, a loving wife, and a fur mom to purebred German shepherds throughout her life.

Pam’s love for her canine companions led to her passion for caring for animals and doing what she could for shelters in need. Pam was married for 37 years to her devoted husband, Joel Berube, who survives her with their dog, Tucker. Pam is also survived by her siblings, Margaret Bober, Gretchen McInvale, Heidi Dirgins (David) and William Hertler (Vicky); as well as several nieces, nephews, great-niece and nephews whom she loved very much. Pam adored her family, and they adored her.

She grew up in Middletown with her siblings and cherished their time together throughout her life. Pam graduated from Middletown High School in 1972 and entered the workforce immediately at Pratt & Whitney, where she devoted a distinguished career of over 47 years. Most notably, Pam’s passion in her career was cultivating young talent and visiting with clients from around the world. She was an unstoppable force throughout her life, going back to school as an adult and graduating with a bachelor’s degree at age 50, followed immediately by a master’s degree. She never stopped pursuing growth or knowledge and even obtained her realtor license in recent years, ready to take on the shoreline with her partner in crime, Jan Panella. Her true joy, outside her family, was living on the Shoreline in Westbrook, an achievement of her dream to be close to the ocean in a loving community. In Westbrook, she met friends who became part of her family. Pam spent her free time with friends and family playing cards, games and going on walks along the beach.

Pam will be greatly missed by all here, and she will be received in heaven by the loving family who predeceased her.
