06/13/2024 10:47 AMMarion T. Greim passed peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of May 4, 2024. She was just two months shy of her 100th birthday. Marion was born and raised in Jamaica, Queens, and became a war-time bride in 1943, when she married George, her life-long love.
As a housewife of the '50s and '60s, while living in Fanwood, New Jersey, she poured her life into her family and community activities. She was most proud of her involvement in the desegregation of the Plainfield YWCA in the late '50s. She also lived in Madison for almost 50 years, from 1972 to 2021, where she was involved in the ABC program, the Madison Foundation, the Winter Club, and many senior activities. She will be remembered as a caring woman of great energy and determination who was interested in all the people she met throughout her long life.
She is predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Arthur Tolles; her husband, George Greim; her sister, Margaret DeVore; and her daughter, Joanne G. Fox. She is survived by her son, Jeff Greim, and his family; and by her daughter, Margaret Hannigan and her family.
Marion was buried on May 11 in a small family service at West Cemetery in Madison. Donations in her memory can be made to the Madison Foundation, of which her husband was a founding member. The Hawley Lincoln Memorial, Guilford, was in charge of arrangements.
