06/13/2024 11:51 AMLorna Smith Buchta, 80, of Glenwood Road, Clinton, and formerly a long-time resident of Guilford died at CT Hospice in Branford on June 9, 2024. She was born Jan. 23, 1944, in New Haven to the late DeWitt and Jean Smith.
She was the beloved mother of her three children who were active in her life, Jennifer (Jeff) Rowell of Madison, Marlene (Keith) Kennel of Guilford, and Kenneth Buchta of Guilford; she is also survived by her daughter Heidi (Michael) Watson; her grandchildren, Devon, Tanner and Brendan Rowell, Dylan Anderson and Zoila Buchta, Cody, Michaela and McKenzie Watson. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Kenneth Buchta (2009).
In her 80 years, Lorna touched the lives of many people with her love, laughter and zest for life. She was a lifelong member of the Guilford Agricultural Society and co-founder of the Guilford Fair Barnyard Department in the 1980s. She was an avid knitter; Lorna created beautiful Christmas stockings and sweaters for many family members.
Lorna loved all animals and kept many pets, such as her cows, horses, a skunk and a raccoon, and many dogs and cats. Lorna may be gone from us, but she will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and friendship.
There are no calling hours, and the family will honor Lorna's life with a private service at a later date.
