Lois Arlene (Cole) Creighton


Lois Arlene (Cole) Creighton passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on May 10, 2024. Born on July 14, 1927, Lois was the daughter of Harold and Grace Cole. She was a graduate of Hamden High School and Brown University.

After marrying the love of her life, Edward T. Creighton, in 1949, she embraced her role as a homemaker, dedicating herself to her family. The family moved several times, finally settling in Guilford in 1966. She furthered her education, obtaining a master of education degree, and taught second grade at Calvin Leete Elementary School for 25 years.

Lois was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Guilford. Her joys also came from being a member and president of the Leete’s Island Garden Club, a Friend of the Guilford Public Library, as well as a volunteer at local elections. She enjoyed swimming, entertaining, and activities at the Guilford Community Center, and most of all visiting with her dear friends and family.

Lois was predeceased by her husband of 56 years and her daughter, Deborah (Creighton) Hankin. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her remaining children, Edward “Ted” Creighton, Jr. and wife Debra of Manchester, Dean Creighton and wife Patrice of Cheshire, Massachusetts, and William Jay Creighton of Guilford. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lois’ grace and kindness touched all who knew her. Her memory will be treasured forever.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday July 27, at Christ Episcopal Church, 11 Park St, Guilford, CT 06437, immediately following there will be a reception and time of remembrance in Parish Hall.
