06/13/2024 11:05 AMJoyce K. McOmber, 86, of Old Saybrook, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born on May 15, 1938, in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
For over 30 years, Joyce worked at JM REALTY in Old Saybrook and helped many members of the community find their forever homes. She was a volunteer for the Old Saybrook High School band, babysat at the church for a women’s exercise group, and enjoyed watching kids of all ages play soccer around town. She loved animals and took care of many people’s dogs in the community, whether it be for afternoon walks or helping to raise a litter of golden retriever puppies. In her later years, Joyce enjoyed driving her puppy to the park, playing cards at the Senior Center, and getting riled up about politics.
Joyce is predeceased by her husband, Charles; her mother, Doris; her father, Howard; and McDuffy, her Maine coon cat. Joyce is survived by her sister, Pat McPherson of Millington, New Jersey; her daughter, Janice Boardman of Willington; and her two sons, Kenneth Brajczewski of Westbrook and Brian McOmber of Old Saybrook. Joyce is also survived by her seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and Lucy, her mini golden doodle.
Joyce requested no funeral services or calling hours, but rather a private ceremony with family at lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire where she loved to spend time in the summer. The Keenan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
