06/13/2024 10:58 AMDominic T. Melillo Jr., 78, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2024, at his home with his family by his side. Born in New Haven on Nov. 22, 1945, son of the late Dominic and Lena Mineo Melillo.
Dominic served his country valiantly in two military campaigns in Vietnam (1966-1968) and was honorably discharged in 1968. He coached football, baseball, and basketball for many years for the Town of North Haven.
He is survived by his three children, Kristine, Leonard (Tracey), and Michael Melillo; a brother, Fredrick Melillo (Joan); a sister, Barbara Alberino (Andrew); and his three beloved grandchildren, Kylie, Faith, and Mark Melillo. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Connie and John Pinto.
The visiting hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 15, at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church/St. Paul VI Parish, Hamden. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. www.northhavenfuneral.com
