Raymond Piscatelli

Raymond “Ray” Joseph Piscatelli, of Guilford, passed away on May 30, 2024. Ray was born in 1929 in New Haven, living in East Haven and North Haven before moving with his family to Guilford in the early ’40s. He attended the Church Street School and graduated from Guilford High School in 1949. There, he met the love of his life, Grace Hills, whom he married at the end of high school.

Ray and Grace moved into a house in North Guilford that Ray built. Not only was Ray incredibly handy, but he was also a very successful businessman, ultimately retiring after serving as president of the New England division of Tilcon Tomasso. Throughout his life, Ray was very caring and devoted to his family. He enjoyed using his construction skills and knowledge to advise and help others, including his family, friends and neighbors, in Guilford, on Taylor Avenue in Madison, and on Nettles Island, Florida, where he and Grace spent many years of retirement. He was an avid doer, always staying busy making and learning. He greatly enjoyed being outdoors, played countless rounds of tennis, became an amateur pilot, and learned to sail.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Dominic; his brothers, Vincent, Charles, and Joseph; and his sister, Adele. He is survived by his wife Grace, with whom he recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary; four children: Linda (Enzo) Cappiello, Stephen Piscatelli, Pamela (Cliff) Johnson, and Melanie Piscatelli; four grandchildren: Megin (Jeff) Cramer, Eliot (Amber) Smith, Ryan (Alexandra) Johnson and Christopher (Amanda) Johnson; and ten great-grandchildren: Acacia Smith, Jedediah Smith, Jacob Cramer, Nathan Cramer, Hannah Cramer, Isabella Cramer, Maya Cramer, Liv Johnson, Grant Johnson and Camden Johnson: and many nieces and nephews.
