John E. Cassesse

On May 26, 2024, John E. Cassesse, 77, a longtime resident of Guilford, passed away of natural causes at his home. Husband of the late Joyce (McManus) Cassesse, John was born in New Haven on May 3, 1947, the son of the late Ernest Cassesse and Evelyn (Errico) Cassesse, and the brother of the late Ernest Cassesse Jr.

Loving father of Kara Davis (Keith) of Guilford, Jaime Trager (Josh) of Wallingford, and Kathryn Fecher (Ryan) of Cumberland, Maine. He is missed by his grandchildren, Grant, Josh, Harper, Harry, and Skyler. He is also mourned by his nephew Stephen Cassesse (Chrissy) and their children Olivia and Julia. He leaves behind his sister-in-law, Marilyn Cassesse, and his nephews, Scott (Christine) Cassesse and Kevin (Catherine) Cassesse, as well as their children Caitlin, Matthew, KJ, and Vera.

John is a 1965 graduate of Hamden High School and a graduate of the University of New Haven. He spent these years excelling in basketball and baseball. His love of sports continued throughout his life. After college, he opened his first of many businesses. He was a self-made man who worked tirelessly to support his family and friends.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, and watching old Westerns at top volume. He cooked in abundance and was preparing trays of baked ziti until his last day on earth. His greatest love was his family and providing opportunities for memories to be made and bonds to be shared. He was the cornerstone of the Cassesse family and will be greatly missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know him.

Friends were invited to a celebration of life on June 5 at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Burial will be held privately.
