06/06/2024 11:24 AMBarbara “Bobbi” L. Tenedine Gavin, 79, of Branford and Jupiter, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024, at her home in Branford with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Norman W. Gavin, and they would have celebrated their 56 years of marriage this August. Bobbi was born in New Haven on May 8, 1945, and was the loving daughter of the late Peter A. and Irena Amelia Caneschi Tenedine.
She grew up in North Haven, where she attended North Haven Public Schools and was a former parishioner of St. Barnabas Church. Bobbi was a member of the Pine Orchard Country Club, Branford, and Admiral’s Cove, Jupiter. She loved her former home in Sunapee, New Hampshire, loved to travel with her husband, enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the National Bridge Association. Most of all, Bobbi was devoted to not only her family but also to her many friends; she loved them all unconditionally. Her grandchildren, however, were the lights of her life; their Mimi loved every minute she spent with them. Bobbi was always there for all and was loved by all who had the good fortune of knowing her. She will truly be missed.
She was the loving mother of Peter W. Gavin and his wife Rachel, Jonathan T. Gavin and his wife Lori. She was the proud Mimi to Will, Sarah, Claire, Grace, Julia and Cate Gavin; and beloved sister of Peter Tenedine and his wife Mona, and BettyAnn Rider and her husband Kenneth. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Barbara “Bobbi” L. Gavin’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Pine Orchard Union Chapel, followed by a reception at the Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club. The family requests, if so desired, contributions in Barbara’s memory may be made directly to the Connecticut Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
