05/30/2024 11:38 AMOn May 26, 2024, John Gerard O’Mara of North Haven passed away peacefully at home. He was the loving husband of Janet DeVivo O’Mara for 50 years.
Born in New Haven on Aug. 12, 1952, he was the son of the late Joseph Patrick O’Mara and Winifred Kavanaugh O’Mara. He was the loving father to Elisa O’Mara (Anthony Caciopoli) of Cheshire and Shari O’Mara (Jason Smith) of East Haven and the beloved grandfather to Olivia Caciopoli and Hope Smith. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was preceded in death by his siblings: Joseph Patrick “Red” O’Mara Jr., David O’Mara, Michael O’Mara, Judy Balzano, Joan Ciociola, and Margaret Vanacore.
John is best remembered for the love he had for his wife, two daughters (his girls), two granddaughters, and family. As a husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, and friend, he will always be remembered for the stories he told, the helpful advice he gave, and most importantly, his humor, as he always sought to make those around him laugh.
John owned a highly respected computer consulting firm which brought him much joy, serving his clients. He loved traveling to Maine with his beloved wife and connecting with nature. He was an amazing drummer.
A memorial service will be held privately by the family.
