Timothy Thrall


Timothy “Tim” Thrall, age 85, of Killingworth, passed away on May 16, 2024, at home after a brief illness. Tim was born Feb. 6, 1939, in Hartford to his late parents Howard and Ruth Thrall, previously residing in Windsor before settling in Westbrook, then Killingworth.

He graduated from Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor. Tim was self-employed and the previous owner of Woody’s Auto Sales and Service of Westbrook. Tim was a devoted husband, brother, father and friend. He cherished time spent with family. He maintained his career as a successful business owner. A light-hearted man, he had a loving and gentle nature with a great sense of humor. He also enjoyed boating, playing pool and mastering puzzles.

Tim is survived by and will be dearly missed by his son Jeffrey Thrall of Waterford; his three daughters, Jennifer Thrall of East Granby, Amy Thrall of E. Longmeadow, Massachusetts, and Carrie Sweet and her husband Gary of East Hampton. He is also survived by his two brothers, Peter Thrall and his wife Pat of Florida and Kit Thrall of New Britain, as well as his sister Susan Berriman and her husband Bill of Granby. He is also survived by grandchildren: Lindsay Einarsen, Ashley Winalski, Alyssa Sweet, Arron Piela, Christopher Piela and Nathan Piela; four great-grandchildren: Summer Einarsen, Evelyn Winalski, Henry Winalski and Warren Winalski; along with many nieces and nephews. Tim was predeceased by his brothers, David Thrall, Mark Thrall and Jonathan Thrall; and daughter Linnea Thrall.

Calling hours for Timothy will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 10, at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook.
