Allison Huther

Allison Fry Huther, affectionately known as “Toni,” passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones, bringing an end to her battle with cancer. Toni’s greatest legacy was her abundant love for her family and vast network of friends. An exceptional hostess with a passion for creativity, Toni recently made her home in Essex and Southwest Florida, where she took joy in preparing gourmet meals and adorning spaces with beautiful flowers, all within elegantly designed interiors. An artist with a gift for arranging flowers, she was recruited by Bloomingdale’s as a lead floral designer and earned recognition through multiple awards and accolades at various garden club exhibitions. Her gifts included founding two businesses, Gourmet Ghost, known for her innovative cuisine, and Flower Statements, her floral design business.

Among her myriad talents and achievements, Toni made history as the first infant to journey by airplane across the continental United States. Later in life, she pursued a career as a stewardess with Capital Airways while pursuing studies at the University of Maryland, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and met her devoted husband, Bill. Toni was always deeply invested in the lives of her family members; her unquenchable desire to stay in touch with those she loved and the current events in their lives was a hallmark of her loving spirit.

She leaves behind a legacy cherished by her daughter, Debra (Huther) Cooper, son-in-law Bill; grandsons Alex and Ryan; daughter Allison (Huther) Fresher, son-in-law Brian; grandchildren Samuel and Molly; Molly’s husband Jonathan Hilzinger and their daughter Isabelle Grace. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Susan Elizabeth Huther.

A memorial service celebrating Toni’s life is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 28, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Essex. In lieu of floral tributes, contributions can be made to support Dr. Barbie’s research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, located at 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445, or online at www.dana-farber.org/gift.
