Arlene Connellan Ryan

Arlene Connellan Ryan, 73, of Madison, passed away on May 3, 2024, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Born in New Haven on June 18, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Evelyn Ruocco Connellan of North Haven.

Arlene had worked for SNET Company, MCI, Telcordia Tvb9 [echnologies and AT&T until her retirement. An avid baker and chef, she graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Manhattan in the late 2000s, and proceeded to make elaborate, multi-course meals and intricate, special-occasion cakes for friends and family. She also passionately followed Madison sports, particularly Daniel Hand High School football and lacrosse.

She was the mother of Shawn Ryan and his wife, Jennifer Talaber Ryan of Atlanta, and grandmother of Finn (5) and Lang (4) Ryan. She also leaves behind her brother Timothy Connellan and his wife Terri of Southington; nephew Jonathan Connellan and his wife Kelly of Southington, and their children Zoey, Colin, and Drew; nephew Kevin Connellan and his wife Annie of Avon, and their children Breanna and James; and niece Katie Connellan of San Diego, California.

Interment in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven will be private, followed by a family Celebration of her Life in Madison. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or Connecticut Hospice (www.hospice.com).
