Allen D. Walker

On March 6,2024, Allen Walker of Sarasota, Florida, and Guilford passed away in Sarasota. Allen was born in Brockton, Massachusetts. April 24, 1942. He was the son of the late Harrison and Louise Walker of Glastonbury.

Allen attended Glastonbury High School, Watkinson School, and Mitchell College. He was employed by Sterling Drug and New England Traditions. He was lovingly referred to as “PopPop” by his four grandchildren: Alexis and Logan Walker and Kyler and Avery Winslow. Throughout his life, Allen exemplified the essence of caring for others. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he dedicated every moment to supporting and nurturing them. Whether it was attending their soccer, baseball, or softball games, being the family handyman, or simply being present and listening on the porch, Allen’s love knew no bounds.

He is survived by his three children: son, Keith (Stacia) Walker of Bradenton, Florida; daughters, Allison Walker of Sarasota and Jennifer (Walker) Ransom (Henry) of Cary, North Carolina; his four grandchildren of Bradenton/Sarasota previously noted; his sister, Polly (Paul) Odegard of Guilford; nieces, Kristin Jay of New Haven and Pam Wheelock (Bruce) of Coventry; many other relatives: Meagan (Ray) DeJesus/Isabel and Harrison of Guilford; Christopher Wheelock (Cheyenne) of Vernon, and Andrew Wheelock of Coventry.
