Richard Stiefel

Richard Marzel Stiefel, 59, passed away at home March 27, 2024. He is survived by his mother, Nancy B. Stiefel of Greensboro, North Carolina; brother, Eric B. Stiefel (Robbie) of Lexington, North Carolina; sister, Lucy D. Stiefel of Greensboro, North Carolina; niece, Sydney T. Stiefel; and nephew, David C. Stiefel. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Nathan Joseph Stiefel; and his father, Joseph Walter Stiefel.

Richard grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina. He received his B.A. in accounting and finance from Guilford College in 1988. He took an accounting job in Connecticut and never looked back! He was a certified public accountant, earned his M.S. in business from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and worked as a controller for manufacturing companies. He found a home he loved in Old Saybrook, and had many close friends in the area that were his family “up north.”

A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at a later date at St. Francis Episcopal Church with Interment in the Memorial Garden.
