Jean Quinn

Jean Anne (Nelson) Quinn peacefully transitioned to the next phase of her journey with her beloved family by her side on April 4, 2024. Born in Oceanside, Long Island, on Oct. 14, 1940, to Anne Greta and John Frederick Nelson, Jean cherished her roots on Long Island before making her home in Hamden and later Northford, with her former husband, Richard Peter Quinn, Sr.

Jean leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by her son Richard Peter Quinn Jr. (Sandy) of Madison; her daughter Lori Quinn Dannheim (Eric) of New York, New York; and her loving grandchildren: Annabel Quinn Dannheim, Cameron Anne Quinn, Conner James Quinn, and Samantha Emilia Dannheim. She is also fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, including her beloved niece, Jennifer Lovelace, and great-nieces, Emily Lovelace and Chelsea Lovelace.

Embarking on a distinguished career in banking, Jean’s journey began as part-time teller at Connecticut Savings in New Haven, later progressing to Center Bank, First Union, Wachovia and ultimately, Wells Fargo, where she achieved the esteemed position of Vice President before retiring in 2005. She spent her later years as a bookkeeper at her son Rick’s business, R. Quinn Builders, and enjoying time with her cherished family.

Jean’s vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. In her youth, she embraced the joys of bowling and tennis, later channeling her energy into community service, volunteering for various committees, including the United Way and the Junior Miss Pageant. A lover of games, Jean found joy in playing Scrabble with her daughter and daughter-in-law and mini golf with her grandchildren. Her passion for travel, especially her annual New Year’s Eve escapades to Atlantic City with dear friends, trips to Nantucket, and adventures with her children and grandchildren, filled her heart with happiness. She would travel any distance to watch her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents of The Hearth Assisted Living in Madison for their unwavering companionship and care over the past three years, to Connecticut Hospice for their exceptional compassion, and to Novadine Williams, Jean’s devoted caregiver for the last eight months.

A Memorial Mass of Christian burial was held on April 9 at St. Monica’s Church, 1321 Middletown Avenue, Northford, followed by a burial service at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jean Quinn’s honor may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
