Elizabeth Tremalgia
Elizabeth “Betty” Lanzi Tremalgia, age 98, a lifelong resident of Chester, died peacefully at home on March 17, 2024.
Betty was preceded in death by the love of her life, Cesario Fred “Skeets” Tremalgia; her parents, Martin and Mary Corradi Lanzi; and siblings, Irma, Jesse, Herman, and Martin Lanzi. She is survived by her five children: Robert (Nancy) of Durham, North Carolina; Ellen (Bill) Dingwell of South Dartmouth, Massachusetts; Nancy (Jeffrey) Scharf of Yardley, Pennsylvania; Fred (Denise) of Chester and Mark (Kelley), Burbank, California; 12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Betty graduated from Chester High School in 1944. She worked at the Stark Insurance Agency for many years. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church and was a member of the church choir for over 78 years and a frequent soloist. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Goodspeed Opera House. Throughout her life, she was involved in many Chester events. She was once crowned queen of the Chester Rotary Fest. More than anything, she loved being with family and friends and always appreciated a good laugh.
The family would like to thank Visiting Nurses of the Lower Valley, especially Alliana and Kerri, Middlesex Health Hospice Care, her home caregivers, and her many neighbors and friends.
Visitations will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, Centerbrook. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25, at St. Joseph’s Church, 48 Middlesex Avenue, Chester. Burial will follow in the Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River.
