03/21/2024 08:22 PMCarolann Maher Patz, 80, of Clinton, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in New Haven on July 3, 1943. The daughter of James Maher and Elizabeth Connellan Maher, she was the youngest of eight children.
Carolann was a loving, caring, and thoughtful mother who loved her family with all her heart. She always had a love for taking care of children. That started when she was young, working for the Head Start program in New Haven. Later in life, she was employed as a Quality Assurance inspector at Cheseborough-Ponds. Then she worked at My Second Home daycare in Old Saybrook, where she made lifelong friends of the children and their parents.
She loved to entertain, and there was never a shortage of food on St. Patrick’s Day, Christmas Eve, Easter, and all the pool parties. Taking care of and sharing with others was just what made her happy. Carolann was also very talented at making flower arrangements for a local florist. She loved to sew and make dresses for her granddaughters.
Carolann was predeceased by her seven siblings: James Maher, Jack Maher, Helen Vaughn Brandt, Dorothy LoRusso, Joan Mason, Elizabeth “Betty” Clark, and Shirley Perrotti. Carolann is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Henry Patz, and Bill Reiss and Kerri, Carolann “Honey” Reiss and Rich, Elizabeth and Ted Vecchiarino, Mollie Padden, Julie Ayn Steiger, and Christopher Patz. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Billy (Elena), Stephanie (Tom), Danielle, Brittany, Eliza Hope, Olivia, Quenten, and Remi, and her great-grandchildren, Lila Grace, Eli, Parker, Regan, Luna, and Kellen.
Visitation was held on March 19 at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A prayer service followed ain the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
