Nancy Lee

Nancy Gene Lee, age 76, of Deep River, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Feb. 18, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Donald R. Lee Sr. Nancy was born in Middletown on Aug. 9, 1947, the daughter of Joshua Hamilton Moore and Viola Mae (Cone) Moore.

Nancy was a graduate of Valley Regional High School and the New England School of Hairdressing. She began her hairdressing career at Burton’s Hair Fashion in Old Saybrook. Nancy joined Structural Graphics in Essex in 1985, and spent the next 28 years as part of the accounting team until her retirement in 2013. Nancy served the community as part of the Deep River Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Nancy enjoyed caring for her gardens and the many songbirds and hummingbirds who visited her yard. She and her husband traveled to many places along the east coast in their RV. She enjoyed sewing and dressmaking. She will be remembered as a loving wife, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted friend.

Besides her husband, Donald, she leaves her sons, Donald R. Lee Jr. “Chip” and his wife, Pamela; Thomas Lee and his wife, Lisa; and Timothy Lee and his wife, Kim; her beloved grandchildren: Tammy, Christopher, Melanie and her husband Tom, Michael, Paige, Erin, Noah, and Emma: great-grandchildren, William and Reign Rochette; and her niece Barbara Robinson. She is predeceased by her parents, her sister Amelia Charest, her aunt Evelyn Cone, and her best friends, Candy Moore and Wendy Kerop.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to staff from the Middlesex Health Hospice and the Home Health Aides for the care and support they provided to Nancy and the family.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, at The First Congregational Church of Deep River, 1 Church Street in Deep River. Interment will be privately held at a later date by her family in the Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River. Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s name to the Deep River Volunteer Fire Department, 57 Union Street, Deep River, CT 06417, or to the Deep River Ambulance Association, P.O.
