Donald Clark
Donald J. “Don” Clark, 88, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Jan. 29, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Alice Skranski Clark for over 60 years. Born in New Haven on May 15, 1935, he was the son of the late Frank and Helen (Considine) Clark and brother of the late Frank (Clare) Clark.
After serving in the National Guard Reserves, he went on to retire from 40 years of working for SNET. His final job, which he enjoyed, was working for the Town of North Haven Recycling Center. Don was a life member of the Mansfield Grove Campers Association, where he spent a lifetime of summers enjoying everything he loved — his family, the beach, and clamming. There wasn’t a summer you couldn’t find him swimming or clamming in the ocean or belly down in the sand without a towel. This is where he was the happiest.
Don was very proud of his family. He lived a simple life but taught us all how to always appreciate everything we have. Don was an active parishioner of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in North Haven. He volunteered with the social action committee, always willing to give to people who needed help. Don was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Don will be missed tremendously as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He was father to Alison (Terry) Talburtt, Donald (Rosemary), Kenneth (Shawn) and Jeffrey (Melissa); grandfather to Patrick (Cristina), Andrew (Phoebe), Justin (Tia) and Brendan (Maddie); great-grandfather to Sacha, Oaklynn and Billie; uncle to Mary Beth Clark, Megan (Jeff) McDaniel and Chris (Bruce) Ritchie; as well as his faithful four-legged companion Lola. The family would like to thank Chris Douchette and the Vitas Hospice staff. They helped us to bring our Dad home for his last week.
The visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends are invited to go at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, directly to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven to attend a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be private at a later date in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Don’s name be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.www.northhavenfuneral.com.
