01/04/2024 10:26 AMMary “Bubbles” Royka Wynne of Branford died on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023, at her home. She was the wife of the late William P. Wynne Sr. Mary was born in Branford on Oct. 8, 1935, a daughter of the late John and Mary Johnson Royka. She was a lifelong resident of Branford.
She was an avid fan of the WWE, with John Cena being her favorite wrestler. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was affectionately known as Nanny and was totally devoted to her family including her children, William (Rosemarie) Wynne Jr. of Dekalb Junction, New York, Michele (Chris) MacKinnel and Tina (Butch) Burne of Branford; her grandchildren: Andrew (Ashley) Wynne, Brandon (Callie) Wynne, Anthony Wynne, Brian (Christina) MacKinnel, Christopher (Karen) MacKinnel, Thomas (Alissa) Burne, and Katie Burne: and her great-grandchildren, Charles, Brian Cody, Logan, Caleb, Aiden, Addy, Andrew Jr., Alex, Auriella, Laiken, Carter, and Elliana. She is also survived by her sisters, Lorraine Hodgens of New Hampshire, Ellen Markleski, and Barbara Markesich, both of Branford. She was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Milheim, and brothers, John and Edward Royka. Her family would like to thank her loving friend and companion, Dawn Klarman, who took such great care of Mary during her illness.
Friends and relatives were invited to calling hours on Dec. 28 at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and her funeral service on Dec. 29 in the funeral home. Burial followed in Branford Center Cemetery.
