John Guerrera
On Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, John J. Guerrera, 92, a longtime resident of Guilford, passed away at Guilford House Nursing Center. He was the beloved husband of 68 years of Beatrice “Bea” Arsenault Guerrera. Mr. Guerrera was born in Waterbury on Oct. 22, 1931, son of the late John and Jeanette (Brenier) Guerrera. He was the loving father of John Guerrera (Karen), Louis Guerrera (Donna), Michael Guerrera (Leigh), David Guerrera, Joseph Guerrera (Laurie), James Guerrera (Mary), Thomas Guerrera (Kathleen), and Melanie DiNicola. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren with two on the way, and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his loving sister Joan Hyde and beloved grandson David “Bubba” Guerrera Jr.
John honorably served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Before retirement, he was self-employed, running a successful screenprinting business with his wife. He enjoyed traveling and being an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Saint George Church Social Committee. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he loved beyond measure.
Friends are invited to calling hours from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield Street, Guilford. Burial with Military Honors will follow in CT State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.
