12/27/2023 01:28 PMAndrew J. Leary Jr., known to his loved ones as Jack, passed away peacefully on Sept. 10, 2023, in New Haven at the age of 87. He was born on Aug. 12, 1936, in New Haven to Andrew Leary and Annette Leary.
Jack had a distinguished military career, serving in the US Army and stationed at West Point, New York. He was proud of his service and dedicated his time to protect and serve his country.
After his military service, Jack pursued a career at Western Electric Company, which later became AT&T. He worked as a supervisor for many years around the New Haven area. Jack’s dedication and leadership were greatly appreciated by his colleagues.
Outside of work, Jack had a passion for sports. He loved watching the UConn women’s basketball team and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. His grandson Ethan’s baseball games brought him immense joy, and he cherished every moment spent cheering him on.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elaine Leary; his daughter, Tracey Reemsnyder; son-in-law, David Reemsnyder; grandchildren, Ethan and Ashley Reemsnyder; and his sister, Elizabeth Lynch and her daughters, Elizabeth Lynch and Kathleen Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Annette Leary, and his brother-in-law Jack Lynch. Jack will especially miss his beloved neighborhood at Medley Lane in Clinton. Their true friendship, support, and kindness with their visits to Apple Rehab meant so much to him.
A memorial service to honor Jack’s life will be planned for the spring of 2024. The details of the service will be announced at a later date. Jack Leary will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.
