12/01/2023 11:04 AMOn Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, Marguerite D. Potter passed away after a long illness. Marguerite was a longtime resident of Guilford. She was born in New Haven, Dec. 28, 1944, the daughter of the late Stephen and Eloise Woodford Roberts.
Marguerite is survived by her husband Harry R. Potter, Jr. and her three children, Karen Jean Graf (Clive) of Groton, Mary Catherine Mendyka (Richard) of Hamden, and Harry Potter III of Guilford; her grandchildren, Cody Avery and Clinton Avery and Tyler Cancelli; and a brother Stephen Roberts of Guilford. She was predeceased by four brothers, Warren, Frank, Ray, and Robin, and her sister Eloise.
Marguerite “Maggie” always enjoyed having family around whether celebrating birthdays or hosting family picnics or playing go-fish with her grandsons. She also enjoyed the time she spent with the staff at the strong house. Maggie worked in the Guilford School system in the cafeteria at Calvin Leete Elementary School. She also worked at Bentons Market for many years until they closed and at Pinchbecks grading roses.
Friends are invited to a graveside service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in Alder Brook Cemetery, 375 Boston St, Guilford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, FL 17, Chicago, IL 60601; https://www.alz.org/
