11/30/2023 05:24 PMElizabeth “Betty” Herrmann, 93, of Branford, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023.
Betty was born in New Haven June 13, 1930, daughter of the late Thomas and Natalie Hughes. Betty was the wife of the late Robert Herrmann, Sr.
Betty graduated from Commercial High School in New Haven and worked for the Southern New England Telephone Company until the time she met her husband and moved to Branford in 1955. She began a new career in 1976 at the Pine Orchard Yacht & Country Club where she worked for 40 years until her retirement in 2016 at the age of 85.
Betty enjoyed antiquing, spending Sundays traveling the shoreline with her friends, musicals, trips to Cape Cod, Vermont, and the casino. Later in life, Betty enjoyed going to the Branford Senior Center and meeting new friends. Betty was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford.
Betty is survived by her children, Cheryl Levine (David) of Branford, Karen Baptie (Rob) of North Haven, and Rob Herrmann (Sue) of Stamford; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Chris), Matthew, Elizabeth, Will, Samantha and Alexandra; her great-granddaughter Stassia; and her siblings, Patricia Goff of Placentia, California, and Robert Hughes of San Diego, California. She was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas, John, Michael, and Richard Hughes, and her sister Anne Hughes Doty.
Her funeral left the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, for a Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary Church at St. John Bosco Parish, at 10:30 a.m. Burial followed in St. Agnes Cemetery. Visiting hour prior to Mass was from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canoe Brook Senior Center, 46 Church Street, Branford, CT 06405.
