Claudia Thomas passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Oct. 6. She fought a long battle with Alzheimer’s with her devoted husband by her side. She was the daughter of David and Helen DeNunzio.
She was born in New Britain and graduated from New Britain High School in 1964. She grew up spending summers at Harbor View Beach in Clinton with her family, where she met her husband, Robert “Bob” Thomas. They were married for 57 years, living in Westbrook for the last 52 years.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Thomas; daughter, Cheryl Thomas and husband, Remo Wilhelm; son, Douglas Thomas; grandchildren: Emily and Jonathan Hotkowski, Corrina and Joseph Thomas; sister Judith Hill and husband Don of Plainville; sister-in-law Geraldine Chapman and husband Charlie; and her cousins; and many nieces and nephews.
After retiring from a career as an executive secretary, she enjoyed spending winters in Florida and summers at their cottage on the lake in Vermont. She is described by many as a sweet lady, always smiling and very devoted to her family. She was a very loved grandmother.
