Tonia S. Melillo
On Nov. 3, Tonia S. Melillo, 77, a longtime resident of Guilford, formerly of Branford, passed away at CT Hospice, Branford. She was the wife of Richard G. Melillo. Mrs. Melillo was born in New Haven on Sept. 28, 1946, daughter of the late Roy A. Sandagata Sr. and Natalie (Timoteo) Sandagata of East Haven.
She was the beloved sister of Roy A. Sandagata Jr. and his wife Josephine of North Branford, Mark Sandagata of Oregon, and Michele Eligio and her husband Anthony of East Haven. She is also survived by a very special aunt and best friend, Margaret “Peggy” Budeit, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Tonia is a graduate of Guilford High School and attended Quinnipiac University. Before retirement, she had worked for the Agency on Aging. She enjoyed trips to Maine and the casino. She would want to be remembered as “putting a smile on someone’s face.”
Friends are invited to calling hours from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford, with a prayer service to take place at 5 p.m. Burial services will be held privately in East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven.
