Joyce Cart Malcarne
Joyce Cart Malcarne, 90, of Deep River, passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Oct. 26. She was born Aug. 29, 1933, in New York City, to Frank and Mary (Bednar) Cart. She moved to Chester when she was five years old.
Joyce was a member of the last graduating class of Chester High School. She lived in Chester for most of her life, where she and her husband Fran raised their children. They moved to Deep River in 1996. Joyce was a teacher’s aide at Chester Elementary School, an administrative assistant at IPC Electronics, and later went on to be a caregiver to the elderly.
She was a loving, caring person with a generous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. Joyce loved spending time at the beach. She was also known to enjoy shopping trips and traveling to both Cape Cod and Florida with her daughter. She will be remembered for her giving spirit and generosity.
Joyce is survived by her children, Suzanne Carmichael (Mel) of Deep River, Stephen Malcarne (Dale) of Chester, and Ryan Malcarne (Tammy) of Deep River; her grandsons, Tyler Malcarne of Chester and Luke Malcarne of Deep River. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dina Cart, and her niece, Victoria Cart. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis Malcarne, her parents, her brother, Frank Cart; and her niece, Lori Cart.
Later in life, Joyce suffered from dementia and was fortunate to be cared for by Shirley Lemcke and Marion Forbes. Their care and companionship enriched Joyce’s life and brought comfort to the family. Joyce lived with her daughter Sue and son-in-law Mel, who both took on the role of caregiver for Joyce, making the last years of her life peaceful and full of love.
