On Oct. 31, Goldia T. (Dabbs) Vargas, 80, a longtime resident of Guilford, passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Sterling James Vargas.

Mrs. Vargas was born in Spring Grove, Indiana, on July 18, 1943, the daughter of the late Gerald William Dabbs and Goldia (Piper) Dabbs. She leaves two daughters, Margaret Cole of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Patricia Denison of Guilford, along with five grandchildren. She was the sister of Peter Dabbs of Guilford and Hansine Sauer of Southport, North Carolina.
