10/26/2023 04:38 PMVirginia Levesh Thompson of Branford died Oct. 17 at her home. She was the wife of the late George S. Thompson. Virginia was born Sept. 19, 1927, in New Haven, a daughter of the late Harry and Frances Levesh.
She worked for many years as an administrative assistant for the SNET Company and Yale University. She was fiercely independent, intellectually inquisitive, and an avid reader and consumer of information. She applied these qualities in pursuit of her favorite pastime, having deep discussions about any subject with anyone willing to engage. She enjoyed a lifelong love of nature and gardening. She highly valued her family and her heritage and was a loving and proud parent and grandparent.
She is survived by her children, Caryn Brannen of Dresher, Pennsylvania; Lauren Thompson of Alexandria, Virginia; and Brian (Colleen) Thompson of Wallingford; and her grandchildren: Scott and Jennifer Brannen, Alex, Kevin, and Eric Thompson and Andrei Thompson. She was predeceased by her daughter Noelle Thompson.
All funeral services are private. The W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Audubon Society @audubon.org or to The Nature Conservancy @preservenature.org.
