Marie (Proulx) Mueller

Marie (Proulx) Mueller, 63, a longtime resident of Guilford, passed away suddenly at her home on Oct. 5. She was the wife of the late Peter G. Mueller, whom she married in 1982. Marie and her family lived in Massachusetts and Connecticut before settling on the New Jersey shore for 10 years. They moved to Guilford in 2000. Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, on Nov. 5, 1959, Marie was the daughter of the late Alfred Proulx, also known as Buster, and the late Jeanette (Dodier) Proulx. She is predeceased by her beloved brother, Thomas W. Proulx, of Norwalk.

Marie was the loving mother of Eric Mueller of Alameda, California, as well as daughter Lindsay Mueller and son-in-law Aaron Kellner of Gardiner, NY. She is survived by her sisters, Michelle Conti of Haverhill, Massachusetts, and Donna Egan of Pittsfield, New Hampshire, as well as her brother, Daniel Proulx of Haverhill. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Carmen Proulx, her niece Jennifer Proulx, and her great-niece Samantha Tingets, whom she loved like a granddaughter, all of Milford. Finally, she is survived by Paul and Debbie Mueller of Randolph, Massachusetts, and Mark and Pam Mueller of South Weymouth, Massachusetts, as well as Bob Mueller and Gemma Mueller of Sanford, FL, whom she loved like her own siblings. A loving soul, Marie was a mentor, mother figure, and auntie to so many others.

Marie was a 1985 graduate of Northeastern University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology and Hospital Administration. She worked in the Radiology Department of Milford Hospital, now Bridgeport Hospital Milford Campus, for over 20 years, most recently as Radiology Manager. For more than 40 years, her diagnostic imaging provided thousands of patients with paths to help them heal. As her career progressed, Marie mentored and trained students and those who were newer to the practice. Her mentees now span medical communities of not just New England but across the United States.

Marie loved the many colors of flowers, which she channeled into an equal love of gardening. Spending time with her family gave her the most joy, and she loved traveling to New York and California to see her children, as well as taking annual summertime trips to Plum Island off the coast of Massachusetts with Jen, Carmen, and Sam. If she wasn’t working or reading, she was singing and dancing along to upbeat music, especially disco. At nightfall, she loved looking up at a clear sky, searching for constellations, and ending the day with at least one of the books she’d be reading at any given time. Admired for her strength, toughness, selflessness, endless generosity, and infectious laugh, she lived every day to its fullest while nourishing the people she loved.

Friends and family were invited to calling hours on Oct. 10 at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Oct. 11 at St. George Church, located at 33 Whitfield Street, Guilford. Burial will follow in Alder Brook Cemetery, 375 Boston Street in Guilford.
